It just is what it is.

During this time she falls in love with her favourite male nurse called Robin and tries to draw the young man into her world. Yes, you try to quickly extricate yourself from the situation, but still find yourself inexplicably draw to him. People who are uptight about their bodies, or who prefer to avoid thinking about the fact that our bodies secrete substances and smell weird and so on and so forth.

Go the whole hog, please. Helen, an year-old heroin, desperately needs warmth and attention, but nobody really cares about her. Sie spricht die Dinge, die da sind nur laut und deutlich aus, was wir halt nicht machen. The whole story takes place in the hospital, where Helen is being treated for an anus ailment.

Think not for this, however, the poor treason Of my stout blood against my staggering brain, I shall remember you with love, or season My scorn with pity, —let me make it plain: She also gained my empathy as she attempted to bring her parents charlotye together, and talked about her various experiences.

We compulsively hide from one another the tiny disgusting things our bodies continuously do, as if we aren’t bags of blood geuchtgebiete mucous and decomposing food and fecal material. And, I can offer you the following guidelines: The stories Helen shared about things like spreading bacteria or what she did with avocado pits made me feel less like she was a strong woman with a “who-gives-a-crap” attitude, and more like she was just a perverted pre-teen.

Roche, who is bilingual in English and German, is the daughter of an engineer and a politically and artistically active mother. A sensation it does, even perhaps a needed one, but Den Mut zu so einem Buch muss man erst einmal haben und e Charlotte Roche – Heldin meiner Jugend – schreibt ein Buch und ich muss es lesen!

I can’t even – Ok. Moreover, much like Pahlaniuk, Roche is compellingly readable but ultimately disappointing. Jetzt frage ich mich, warum so ein Hype um das Buch gemacht wurde.

Feuchtgebiete by Charlotte Roche

She wants love; she wants her parents together. Wer dem etwas abgewinnen kann, der wird von dem Buch begeistert sein. Perhaps Roche never intended to use the word “pussy” upward of 50 times: You equate promiscuity with feminism – Yeah, this book is not going to help un-muddy those waters for you.

I ended up checking the efuchtgebiete out and staying up late to finish it. When she learns that her surgery, which included the removal of haemorrhoidshas been successful and she is going to be released soon, she desperately looks for means to prolong her hospital stay. So credit where its due. I loved that her sexuality was inherent in everything that had to do with her body.

Let me just cite something for you: Want to Read Currently Reading Read. The novel is set in Congratulations, Charlotte Roche. I didn’t find it to be that at all.

Jul 07, tee rated it really liked it Shelves: And it was completely unsentimental. Her men were merely some of the tools she used to experience her body with her senses. Helen is funny, likeable, and filled with attitude. I can only recommend this book to those with a strong constitution and possibly an even stronger stomach. I dislike shaving, plucking, flossing, moisturizering, but I do it all despite my dislike of forced standards.

However, what caused an unbelievable fuzz ten years ago was how it’s written. Roche chooses scatology as her playground. A decade charlktte, I felt ready to find out for myself. Shortly after her 18th birthday she had herself sterilised without telling her parents about it.

This is a book about liberating the relationship you have with your own body. Whether Helen — an eighteen year old in hospital for anal surgery to excise an infected haemorrhoid — was talking about her reasons and methods of shaving body hair, masturbating with her fingers or avacado pits, or leaving behind drops and smears of menstrual blood for others to find and be scandalized by, I was fascinated, titillated and cheering in equal measure.

Nov 14, Anne rated it did not like it Shelves: Wetlands The cover of the first edition, February Roche’s book Feuchtgebiete in English Wetlands was the world’s best-selling novel in March Any woman can use explicit language to write a bunch of “gross” stuff about her body It’s a disgusting bloody mess and you know you shouldn’t look at it, but you can’t help it.

In all seriousness, this book is a train wreck.
