Do you think physics cannot be easy or physics cant be funny?? I did like the way that the chapters were their own little stories and reading them together fits in the story line, but you could still read a chapter by itself without worrying about remembering what happened earlier in the story. Gamow took on the challenging task of writing a novel that would involve lofty science topics such as relativity and quantum mechanics, in which he would help the readers develop a basic understanding of the topics. He likes his dream and comes back to enjoy additional lectures which in turn inspire new dreams. But only then he enters a dream world where everything is happening like the lecturer was saying.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about science. Shopbop Designer Fashion Brands. If you like to learn tompkine math and science I highly recommend this as the book tries to explain it in a way that lets you think about similarities to the macro world we live in compared to the micro world he usually explores.

The fifteen chapters in this volume truly are a masterclass gamw science communication; exquisite science, simple and engaging stories, imbued with subtle humor. It continues with lectures on physics Mr Tompkins attempt during which he always manage to grab some more sleep and some more dreams about quantum mechanics and atoms.

It explains in a very simple way some of the ideas behind the modern physics following the life of one character Mr Tompkins that is involved with other characters representing some physicists that made the foundation of the modern physics, for example Pauli with some other name disguised as a minister of the electrons.

Tompkins keeps the book moving from topic to topic as he gets his education in physics, and all the while the reader finds him- or herself of course getting the same education.
