Nov 28, Viriam rated it liked it. Very hard to read. I finally broke down and bought a copy of this wonderful cookbook after checking it out from the library numerous times. It’s a great assortment of recipes — some vegetarian but plenty of meat dishes too, as well as breads, appetizers and rice dishes. Next time I’ll do that and increase the chiles. Needs 1 t salt at start of cooking. Normally these types of books are only quick and easy for a restaurant chef but Madhur Jaffrey has really made this simple.
As authentic as it comes when you’re taking half an hour to make a dish that normally takes a few hours, this A “Quick and Easy” recipe book that is actually just that.
I got it two days ago, and so far, I’ve made the chicken with daal and the stir fried cabbage.
The “30 minute” part is only 30 minutes if you have a pressure cooker. This is my husband’s all time favorite cauliflower recipe. Want to Read saving…. Egg dishes; Main course; Indian Ingredients: Jaffrey’s books off forever. My chicken and daal didnt look like hers. Neil and I wanted to learn how to cook Indian food, since it’s pretty much our favorite cuisine, and thought this book looked like a non-intimidating place to start.
I am sure both beef and lamb would work perfectly too.

Have tried a number of recipes and found them easy to follow and have enjoyed the results, so have my family. This cookbook has been our go-to guide for Indian cooking ever since the Indian restaurant in our town closed. I had an Indian exchange student who taught me some great dishes, so have a bit of experience.

In the past, I found Indian cookbooks difficult to follow, and hard to understand. Madhur Jaffrey’s World Vegetarian: The recipes look easy and delicious. I thought I didn’t have the recipe myself when I read the reviews, but it turned out I did. Looking for beautiful books? Used fresh curry leaves and two serrano chiles with seeds.

The only consistent issue we have with regards to the book is that the rhythms qukck and vegetables are very bland.
