Applicable only for replacement: LM, LM, LM, LM, LM, LM . referred to as character LCD modules) is almost always 14 pins. Table 1 shows the basic pinout. You may find that some displays have.

I’ve tried relying on the start up delay 72 msecs to allow the LCD to self initialise.
I finally ran accross the answer in the microchip data sheet. Guest Super Member Total Posts: Haven’t received registration validation E-mail? I didnt know that but I cleared the whole thing and made port e all outputs. It must not only be set as output but also as digital or setting it as output is useless. I think the better thing is to create your own lcd functions using a generic lcd datasheet. Thanks ocd the help I didn’t configure Port E as Digital ouputs.
I can send you code examples if you wish.
I use the Optrex manual www. Had to burn thousands of machine cycles based on 20MHz clock to wait this long!
I’m pretty sure it’s a predecessor to a 16F84 with 4 bit transfer. If anything is not just right on start-up all you will get is the boxes or dots. David, Assuming you are using a standard character lcd I would suggest you check the initialization sequence carefully.
I am new at this but I had the same problem. Initializing the datasyeet this way alwayswill prevent the display from screwing up when resets occur, and is more efficient than analyzing particular PIC register bits to determine datashet of reset, and figuring out the frailties of the LCD protocol.

I will have to look at that. If you havent already catasheet the problem. What are good practices when using SPI? Why does my PIC32 run slower than expected? When I wrote the lcd software I was in trouble too with port E, because I configured eatasheet like input, so they didn’t change state.
Both were a bit slow on the uptake. Aside from that, if you’re using the device in nibble mode, and properly initialize it as such, then experience a hardware reset not a power on-resetthe display will still be in 4-bit mode, and may misconstrue information sent to it by the PIC. Cheers for the help Aaron.
That caught me out, too. Forums Posts Latest Posts. Look at page 99 Example initializing port e.
If you dont have it already download the document on the 18F it is DSB. THEN, you can issue the command to switch over to nibble mode afterward. Any help will be most appreciated. You can use port e but it is also an analog input. Insert wait states after display clear. Debug breakpoints automatically disabled Future of PIC32 16F88 cannot set internal oscillator frequency beyond I looked at the spec sheet and it said that Port E was a digital input output port but cant get any functions to work on these pins.
Any help is appreciated Cheers Aaron. I usually get a series of faint grey dots in a grid where the characters are displayed.

User Control Panel Log out. I suspect there may well be a simple explanation but I’m yet to find it.
Forum Themes Elegant Mobile. Essentials Only Full Version. Any other ideas what is wrong. I use a lcd with pic18f just like you and microchip C compiler. I hope this helps Blusky aspforum.
